General
What is TigerTradeBot?
TigerTradeBot is self-hosted trading software for macOS, Windows and Linux. It gives you paper trading on a built-in simulator, backtesting, a Strategy Lab for testing and validating strategies, automation through Charles Schwab, Alpaca, Polymarket and Webull (beta), an optional AI copilot, reporting, and risk controls. It runs on your computer, and your trading data stays there.
Does TigerTradeBot guarantee profits?
No. Nothing does, and you should be skeptical of any trading software that claims otherwise. TigerTradeBot provides tools for testing, analyzing and automating your own strategies. Trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every investor. That's why the free paper-trading license exists: practice until you trust your process.
Is this investment advice?
No. TigerTradeBot is software, not an advisor. It doesn't recommend trades, and neither does its AI copilot. The strategies you run and the decisions you make are your own.
Who makes TigerTradeBot?
TigerTradeBot is a product of TigerCodes, LLC.
Getting Started
Can I use it for free?
Yes, with the free paper-trading license: 12 months, one per email address, no card required. It includes paper trading, backtesting, the Strategy Lab, the AI Copilot, reporting and risk controls. Paper trading only: orders are simulated, and nothing is sent to a broker. Live trading needs a Lite or Ultimate subscription.
How long does the free license last?
12 months from the day it's issued. TigerTradeBot shows when your license expires.
What happens when the 12 months end?
The license expires and TigerTradeBot stops running until you subscribe to Lite or Ultimate. Your data stays on your computer, so a subscription picks up where you left off.
Can I renew the free license or claim it again?
No. It's one per email address, and it can't be renewed or claimed again with the same email.
What operating systems are supported?
macOS 12 or later (separate installers for Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows 10 or 11 on x64, and Linux on x64 or ARM64 (.deb, .rpm, or a portable .tar.gz). On macOS TigerTradeBot is a desktop app; on Windows and Linux it runs a local web interface that opens in your browser. It doesn't run on phones or tablets.
Do I need a broker account to start?
You don't need a funded account, but the paper-trading simulator needs market data. For stocks that comes from a broker connection (Schwab, Alpaca or Webull) or a TAAPI.io key; an Alpaca paper account with Alpaca's free IEX data feed is the simplest start. Crypto can use public exchange data that needs no key.
How do I get the installer?
Get a license (the free one or a subscription), then log in to the TigerLicense customer portal with the same email and open Downloads. Installers are for license holders, so this site doesn't host them.
Brokers
Which brokers are supported?
Charles Schwab, Alpaca and Polymarket, with Webull in beta. Interactive Brokers is planned but not supported for trading yet. Every broker can run against the built-in simulator; Alpaca paper keys are also supported. Each broker has a setup guide in the docs.
Where are my broker credentials stored?
On your computer, in TigerTradeBot's local configuration database, not in your operating system's credential store. Once the app has generated its encryption key, sensitive values are encrypted with AES-256-GCM; the key is kept in the same data folder, so protect your computer account and your backups. Credentials are never sent to TigerTradeBot servers: your machine talks to your broker directly. You can revoke access at any time from your broker.
AI
Can I use local AI?
Yes. Point TigerTradeBot at any OpenAI-compatible local server, such as LM Studio, Ollama or llama.cpp, and the model runs on your hardware. The Local LLM page has presets for the common runtimes.
Does AI data leave my computer?
Not with local models: your strategies, positions and history stay on your machine. Cloud providers (OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, xAI, DeepSeek, Amazon Bedrock) work with your own API key and are strictly optional; what you send them is governed by their terms. AI Privacy Mode keeps prompts that carry trade or account data on your local model. TigerTradeBot servers are never in that path.
Will the AI tell me what to trade?
No. The copilot explains strategy logic, analyzes your results and helps you build strategies. It does not predict markets or give financial advice. If you turn on the optional AI Trade Confirmation Gate, it can approve or veto trades your strategy proposes; it's advisory software, not financial advice.
Technical
Can I run it offline?
Partly. Strategy work runs locally; the license is checked once a day, with a 6-hour grace period. TigerTradeBot also checks the license when it starts, so it needs to reach the license server then. Broker connections, live market data and any cloud AI need a connection too. Local AI models work without one.
Where is my data stored?
In TigerTradeBot's data folder on your computer: ~/Library/Application Support/tigertradebot on macOS, %LOCALAPPDATA%\tigertradebot on Windows, ~/.local/share/tigertradebot on Linux, or inside the extracted folder for a portable bundle. Your trades, settings and credentials are in local databases there. Back them up with the app's Backup & Restore page. Your trading data isn't stored on TigerTradeBot servers.
How do I update?
TigerTradeBot checks for updates once a day and shows a badge when one is ready. Nothing installs until you click: on macOS it opens the new .pkg, on Linux it downloads the package and shows the install command, and Windows and portable installs update in place. The updater verifies the SHA-256 of every file first. Your settings and data are kept.
Are the installers signed?
Not yet: they aren't code-signed, so macOS and Windows may warn you the first time. Verify the installer's SHA-256 checksum before you open it; the installation guide shows how.
Licensing
How much does it cost?
The free paper-trading license costs nothing for 12 months (one per email address, no card required). Live trading is a subscription: Lite is $99/month or $1,000/year, and Ultimate is $299/month or $3,000/year. Today both plans unlock the same software features; Ultimate-only features will be listed on the pricing page when the software enforces them. There are no add-ons or per-broker fees.
What happens if I cancel?
Live trading stays active until the end of the paid period. After that the license expires and TigerTradeBot stops running until you subscribe again; there's no free fallback. Nothing is deleted: your strategies, history and reports stay on your computer.
What if a payment fails?
Stripe retries the charge and we email you. Your license stays valid until the end of the period you've already paid for; if the payment still hasn't gone through by then, the license expires.
Can I change plans?
Not self-service yet. Contact support and we'll switch you between Lite and Ultimate, or between monthly and yearly billing.
