Connecting Polymarket

Connect Polymarket with your wallet's private key, understand what holding that key on your computer means, and how prediction markets differ from securities trading.

Polymarket is a prediction market, not a securities broker. You trade outcome shares that settle to $1 or $0 when an event resolves. The connection model and the risks are different from the other integrations, so read this page fully before connecting.

Availability caveat

Polymarket is not available in all jurisdictions, and access rules change. You are responsible for confirming that using Polymarket is lawful where you live, under the venue’s current terms. TigerTradeBot connecting successfully is not evidence that you’re permitted to trade there.

How the connection works

Polymarket is non-custodial: your funds (USDC on Polygon) are controlled by a crypto wallet, and orders are signed with that wallet. TigerTradeBot trades through Polymarket’s order book (CLOB) API.

TigerTradeBot needs your wallet’s private key. It’s the only credential required: the API key, secret and passphrase are derived from it.

Warning: private-key custody. Anyone who has this key controls the funds in that wallet. TigerTradeBot stores it on your computer, in its local configuration database (encrypted once the app’s encryption key exists; the key is kept in the same data folder). It is never sent to TigerTradeBot servers. Use a dedicated wallet that holds only what you’re prepared to trade and lose, never your main wallet. Protect your computer account, and treat backups of TigerTradeBot’s data folder like the key itself. TigerTradeBot never asks for your seed phrase.

Prerequisites

  • A Polymarket account with a funded wallet (USDC on Polygon)
  • That wallet’s private key (0x-prefixed hex)

Step 1: Enter the key

  1. Open Settings → Global Configuration → Polymarket.
  2. Paste the key into Polymarket Wallet Private Key.
  3. Choose Derive from Wallet to derive the API credentials. The API Key / API Secret / API Passphrase fields are only for advanced manual overrides.
  4. If you use an email/Magic or Safe wallet, fill in Polymarket Proxy / Funder Address and pick the matching Polymarket Signature Type (0 is a standard wallet, the default).
  5. Polymarket Chain ID: 137 is Polygon mainnet; 80002 is the Amoy testnet with test tokens.
  6. Choose Save Settings, then Test Polymarket.

Step 2: Trading

Polymarket Auto-Trade Enabled is off by default. Live execution also needs the instance in Live mode and a license that allows live trading. The Polymarket and PM Scanner pages show markets and positions.

Paper trading prediction markets

Polymarket has no simulated-money environment. In Paper mode, TigerTradeBot simulates the orders itself, and nothing is sent to Polymarket.

Prediction-market specifics

  • Prices are probabilities (0–100¢), so position sizing and P&L behave differently from equities.
  • Resolution risk is real: markets can resolve against you on interpretation, not just outcome, and disputes happen.
  • Liquidity is thin in many markets; simulated fills will flatter you.

Trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every investor. That applies with full force here.
