Installation

Get a license, download the installer from the customer portal, verify it, and install TigerTradeBot on macOS, Windows, or Linux.

TigerTradeBot runs on your own computer. On macOS the installer adds a desktop app; on Windows and Linux, TigerTradeBot runs a local web interface that opens in your browser at http://localhost:8846.

1. Get a license

Installers are for license holders. If you don’t have a license yet, get the free paper-trading license: 12 months, one per email address, no card required. Paper trading only: orders are simulated, and nothing is sent to a broker. A Lite or Ultimate subscription adds live trading.

Your license arrives by email, with a link to the TigerLicense customer portal.

2. Download from the customer portal

  1. Log in to the customer portal with the email address your license was issued to. The first time, register with that email: the portal sends a 6-digit code to confirm it’s yours.
  2. Open Downloads and pick your platform.

macOS, Inteltigertradebot_<version>_darwin_amd64.pkg.tar.gz
Windows (x64)tigertradebot_<version>_windows_amd64_setup.exe.zip
Linux (x64)tigertradebot_<version>_amd64.deb or tigertradebot-<version>.x86_64.rpm.tar.gz
Linux (ARM64)tigertradebot_<version>_arm64.deb or tigertradebot-<version>.aarch64.rpm.tar.gz

There is no Windows on ARM build.

3. Verify the checksum

The installers are not code-signed yet, so your operating system may warn you when you open them. Checking the SHA-256 checksum first confirms the file is exactly the one we built.

Every release build writes a SHA256SUMS file listing the SHA-256 of each installer and bundle. The customer portal doesn’t show checksums yet; until it does, email support@tigertradebot.com with your version and platform and we’ll send you the SHA256SUMS for it. Then compare:

macOS (Terminal):

shasum -a 256 tigertradebot_<version>_darwin_arm64.pkg

Linux:

sha256sum --ignore-missing -c SHA256SUMS

Windows (PowerShell):

Get-FileHash .\tigertradebot_<version>_windows_amd64_setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256

The value must match the line for that file in SHA256SUMS. If it doesn’t, delete the file and download it again.

4. Install

macOS

  1. Open the .pkg and follow the installer. It installs TigerTradeBot in your Applications folder.
  2. Because the package isn’t signed with an Apple Developer ID, macOS may refuse to open it at first. If so, open System Settings → Privacy & Security (on macOS 12, System Preferences → Security & Privacy) and choose Open Anyway for the TigerTradeBot installer.
  3. Open TigerTradeBot from Applications or Launchpad. The app window opens directly; no browser needed.

Windows

  1. Run tigertradebot_<version>_windows_amd64_setup.exe. It installs for your user account only, so it doesn’t ask for administrator rights.
  2. If SmartScreen warns about an unrecognized app, choose More info → Run anyway.
  3. Start TigerTradeBot from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut. Your browser opens http://localhost:8846. Windows Firewall may ask to allow the app; allow it on private networks.

Linux

  1. Install the package for your distribution:

sudo apt install ./tigertradebot_<version>_amd64.deb # Debian, Ubuntu
sudo dnf install ./tigertradebot-<version>.x86_64.rpm # Fedora, RHEL

  2. Start TigerTradeBot from your applications menu, or run tigertradebot-gui, then open http://localhost:8846 in your browser.

Portable bundle (any platform)

Extract the .tar.gz or .zip and run start-tigertradebot.sh (or start-tigertradebot.cmd on Windows). The bundle keeps its data inside the extracted folder, so moving the folder moves the installation.

Where your data lives

InstallData folder
macOS app~/Library/Application Support/tigertradebot
Windows installer%LOCALAPPDATA%\tigertradebot
Linux package~/.local/share/tigertradebot
Portable bundlethe extracted folder

The folder holds your databases, settings, license and encryption keys. Back it up with the app’s Backup & Restore page, and keep the backup somewhere safe: it contains your broker credentials. Uninstalling on Windows asks before deleting it.

Updates

TigerTradeBot checks for updates once a day and shows a badge when one is available. Nothing installs until you click. On macOS it downloads the new .pkg and opens it; on Linux it downloads the .deb or .rpm and shows you the install command; the Windows install and portable bundles update in place. The updater checks the SHA-256 of every file before applying it.

Next: First run.
